Mission Statement

 Our mission is to heighten awareness of sexual abuse and family violence, provide training to mental health providers, advocate for the development and continuation of services, and provide resources and referrals for sexual abuse survivors. 

LICSA/FV has been instrumental in developing:

  • Ongoing training to those working with victims of sexual abuse:  developed training modules specific to adults as well as children
  • A directory of services for survivors and professionals
  • An annual conference for professionals on sexual abuse and family violence
  • Community education and onsite sexual abuse training programs for clinicians and mental health professional in community-based agencies
  • A Sexual Abuse Resource Center run jointly by the LICSAFV and Hands Across Long Island
  • Housing options specifically for survivors, developed a housing advisory committee to address issues of sexual abuse and family violence
  • A subcommittee to develop supervisory training regarding issues of abuse and trauma

 In addition LICSA/FV:

  • Participates in statewide trauma initiatives.  LICSA/FV is one of the leading, most innovative and productive trauma Task Forces in New York State
  • Proposed the development of the S.T.A.R. (Specialized Treatment and Recovery) Unit, a residential program for female sexual abuse survivors
  • Participated as members of the S.T.A.R. Unit Advisory Board
  • Provided ongoing supervisory support to the S.T.A.R. Unit staff

 LICSA/FV Proposes to:

·         Develop ongoing bi-county supervision group that will bring professionals together to conference difficult cases

·         Develop a website for greater access to available trainings, conferences, meetings and new initiatives
